Choosing an adult electric scooter starts with how you will actually ride it, not with the spec sheet. Three questions are usually enough to narrow the field.
How far do you really travel per trip? This is what drives the battery choice. The range figures given by manufacturers are measured in favourable conditions: light rider, flat ground, moderate speed, mild temperature. Leave yourself some headroom over your daily distance, since a battery that works less hard ages better. On our product pages, range is always presented as stated, along with the factors that change it.
What surfaces do you ride on? City streets and trails call for different machines. In town, folding, weight and handling usually matter more than power. On cobbles, trails or broken road surfaces, it is the wide tyres, dual suspension and hydraulic braking that change comfort and stopping distances.
Will you have to carry it or store it? Stairs, public transport, a car boot: weight and folded dimensions become the deciding factors. Our models run from roughly 28 to 45 kg among those for which the manufacturer provides a weight; that figure appears on the product page whenever it has been supplied to us.
Nominal power or peak power? These two numbers describe different things: nominal power is the continuous output, peak power is a short burst. Many listings never say which one is shown. When the manufacturer provides both figures, we set them out separately.
On public roads in France, speed is limited to 25 km/h under the regulations applicable to personal light electric vehicles. Models whose stated performance exceeds that limit are reserved for private land, closed circuits or authorised areas, and the rules differ from one country to another.
